Random bentos

Have been packing brunches for three weeks now, and it’s still fun. Am trying to get this to be a routine, especially when school term starts again in January. With the school holidays round the corner, my routine is going to be completely different, thus bento boxes will not be used for a few weeks.

Was going through my photos, and found some unpublished ones, so here are the more appealing ones.

(Mixed fruits in upper box; leftover fried bee hoon with clams, baked chicken, quail eggs, and pumpkins in lower box)

(Have always loved curry egg mayo sandwiches, the middle one is a spam and mushroom sandwich)

p1020999

(KFC mix (from tfp) sandwich, with one kaya sandwich, and mangoes and prunes in upper box; chicken, cheese & rocket salad in lower box)

(This was today’s box, tamagoyaki and leftover fried rice in upper box: mangoes, grapes, orange, papayas and mini cheese cubes in lower box.)

And here’s my little carry bag for my brunch!

Cuteness overload….gah!

The blue bag is so cute!Won’t mind using that for evening wear,as nite out!LOL!Noticed it is crocs, thot they made shoes only ! Tried egg currymayo sandwich before but have not attempted it myself. That is an idea for kid’s school lunch!

I didn’t know crocs has bags as well! The color attracted me in the first place, and the fact that it will withstand food/liquid spillages. For the curry mayo sandwich, I used GOLDYNA’s Mild Curry Mayonnaise. It’s an aussie product, so you should be able to get it easily in Melbourne.

When C & I were shopping for the bento boxes, we were wondering how to fill our stomachs looking at the size of it. Call me a BIG eater, the size is only good enough for me as an appetiser, seriously. It’s like *chomp* *chomp* and it’s empty! hahaha… I am really impressed at how you made it look so full!
    Kudo!

Ya, the challenge is in the packing! I learn from the best on the internet! Believe you me, there are many tips for such a seemingly easy task.

I eat quite a lot myself so don’t think the bento boxes will be sufficient for me. Hopefully that’s only for lunch? You do have breakfast? Dinner? Or is that all you eat for the whole day?

Of course that’s not for the whole day, or I’ll be starving half the time. The bentos are for my brunch. I don’t have time to eat a leisurely breakfast so I make it up by doing nice brunches. Otherwise I’ll eat crap everyday at the coffee shop downstairs. You can actually pack quite a bit, just have to practice on the packing it all in bit.

thats a lot you eat – I dont eat so much and my weight never go down.. Starved like hell- lost 1kg… when am off diet can easily put on 2-3kg…susah lah.

Hee hee…most say that’s too little food…you’re the first who’s commented “a lot”, read tootze’s comment. Just to give you an indication, the total capacity of both boxes (lower and upper tier) is 640 ml. So basically you’re talking about eating 2 cups plus 140 ml more of a complete meal, ie carbs (includes fruits & vegetables), protein, and fats (already found in protein). Actually with my lifestyle, I am supposed to eat 700- 750 ml of food, so sometimes I use Lock&Lock containers, which come in various sizes, some with dividers as well.

Of course if you starve yourself, you can bet you’ll put one more than whatever you lost. The theory is, if you starve, your body will store fat as it thinks you’re on “survival” mode, ie, it will store fat so that you’ll be able to survive longer until you get more sustenance. So when you go off your diet, that fat that’s stored is still there…now even more than before you went on diet. Hope that helps. I never go on diet, as I do not like the implication that the word brings with it!
