Having just learned that “sweetened condensed milk” has been replaced with “vitaminised” by F&N Dairies, I decided to try making “Kek Malindo”, better known as “beehive cake” locally. It came out okay, but it I remember it tasted way much better with “sweetened condensed milk”. I was told that condensed milk is still available in Singapore, but made in Indonesia. We’re stuck with “sweetened creamer” in Malaysia, which has an odd after taste.

I’ve a blogger friend cum ex-student who loves bee hive cake. Think they also call in honeycomb. No more condensed milk around. Gee! I didn’t even know that! Must go and see one of these days! Not even that susu cap gantung? Hahahahahah!!!

I didn’t realise that condensed milk is no longer on the shelves here, until Gundot’s sis mentioned it. Not even susu cap gantung (heh!). I actually called up Marigold and F&N Dairies to verify. This is a “price-controlled” item, and production just ceased to be feasible with rising costs of producing the original condensed milk.

New Blog Gerrie? R we allow to comment n r u going to continue with this blog? So sad condensed milk is not selling in s’wak anymore. goes so well with coffee n tea n i just love beehive cake n without condensed milk, won’t taste the same! Also with malay cake like kek lapis etc. I hope they will not stop selling it here too, i do not really stock it but indulge in them once in a while. Aiyo! in that case i better stock up n sell in ebay!LOL!
Welcome to my humble blog. I have no idea how long this will be up though. Of course comments are allowed!
Condensed milk no longer in the whole of Malaysia. Closest place to get is from singapore now. I doubt they will stop selling in Australia as the stoppage here was due to the producers not being able to up its price, as it’s a government price-controlled item. The condensed creamer really tastes different as they use palm oil!

hi – i got this Tuna loaf recipe from Stella-I did the cooking demo. 2wks ago at the Church Ladies monthly gathering.everybody said its vv nice. eat it warm.. left over make sandwich or eat with salad…easy to make.
425g Tuna chunks in oil–Ayam brand
3eggs beaten
half cup milk n 1cup grated cheddar cheese
1cup flour n 1tsp baking powder
1cup sliced button mushroom
1tsp mustard
3tbsp spring onions n parsley- can put in more
salt n pepper to yr taste
combine all – mix well n pour into greased loaf tin.
sprinkle grated cheese on top. Bake in preheat oven 180c 30-40 mins.
Thanks! I think it’s like what we used to make when we were students in Aus. We used to make a whole tray. Instead of mushroom, we used diced celery. We would have this for a couple of days!
